I have also added endnotes that seek to provide information about people and places. This is a work-in-progress, and I would appreciate any…

Present town population: 1000-5000 and current Jewish population: under 10.

Ms. Anna Schubertova, caretaker, 331 41 Kozlany 55; and 4. [former chronicler] Josef Snajdauf, 270 34 Cista u Rakovnika 295.
The earliest known Jewish community in town was in 1680. Jewish population in 1930 was 0 in Kozlany, 6 Jews in Kuzova, 16 in Cista, and 20 in Kralovice, etc. Noteworthy historical events: Jewish community with prayer-house existed since the 1680s; banishment after 7124; expelled families moved to neighboring vilagges of Strachovice and Kozova and founded congregations. The Jewish cemetery was established in late 17th or early 18th century. Tzadakkim and other noteworthy Jews buried in the cemetery: rabbis of Kuzova . The last known Jewish burial was in before 1943. The Jewish community was Conservative. Other towns and villages that used this cemetery, 3-7 km from the following congregations: Stachovice ; Sipy ; Kuzova ; Zdeslav ; Vysoka Libyne . The cemetery is protected as Register No. 158/1313/, kategory II.
The cemetery location is rural , on a hillside, and isolated, with no sign. The cemetery is reached by turning directly off a public road. Access is open to all. The cemetery is surrounded by a continuous masonry wall and a gate that does not lock.
Size of cemetery before and after WWII: 0.1547 hectares. 100-500 gravestones are in cemetery, regardless of condition, all in original location, with less than 25% of surviving stones toppled or broken. The oldest legible gravestone is from 1717. Tombstones in the cemetery are datable from the 18th through the 20th centuries. The granite and sandstone tombstones and memorial markers are flat shaped stones, finely smoothed and inscribed stones and multi-stone monuments, inscribed Hebrew, German, and/or Czech. The cemetery contains no known mass graves. There is a pre-burial house ruin with a chimney.
The property, now used for Jewish cemetery purposes only, is owned by the Jewish community of Plzen. Properties adjacent to the cemetery are a commercial/industrial quarry and forest. The cemetery is visited occasionally by organized individual tours.
The cemetery was vandalized constantly from prior to World War II to now. Past maintenance: re-erection of stones, clearing of vegetation, and fixing of wall by regional or national authorities, Jewish individuals and groups within country in 1990 and 1992. Current care: occasional clearing or cleaning by individuals and by regular caretaker paid by the Jewish Congregation of Plzen.
Security and vandalism are a serious threat due to the secluded spot. Weather erosion is a slight threat. The vegetation overgrowth in the cemetery is a constant problem, disturbing graves. Because of the nearby quarry, pollution and incompatible nearby development are a very serious threat.
Dr. Peter Braun, Komenskeho 43, 323 13 Plzen, tel. 019/52-15-58, Rudolf Lowy, Jesenicka 33, 323 23 Plzen, tel. 019/52-06-84, and Jiri Fiedler, Brdickova 1916, 155 00 Praha 5, tel. 02/55-33-40 completed the survey on 6 November 1992 using the following documentation: 1.
