HAMMOND-DORSEY
MAJOR-GENERAL JOHN HAMMOND, married Mary, the daughter of John Howard, Sr., and the granddaughter of Matthew Howard, the emigrant.4
MAJOR CHARLES HAMMOND, their son, married his cousin, Hannah, the daughter of Philip and Ruth Howard.5
Their son, John Hammond, married Anne, the daughter of COLONEL EDWARD DORSEY and his second wife, Margaret Larkins.
Their daughter, Ruth Hammond, married HON. HENRY GRIFFITH.
HOWARD
Five brothers, Matthew, Cornelius, Samuel, John and PHILIP, emigrated from England and settled on the Severn River, Maryland, in 1658.
The elder of these brothers, Matthew Howard , was the ancestor of the following line:
John Howard I, married Susannah Stevens, whose daughter, Mary, married JOHN HAMMOND I.
John Howard II, married Katharine, the daughter of COLONEL NICHOLAS GREENBERRY, and the widow of Henry Ridgely II.
Their daughter, Katharine Howard, married Orlando Griffith, whose son, COLONEL HENRY GRIFFITH, married Ruth Hammond.
CAPTAIN PHILIP HOWARD, the youngest of these five emigrant brothers, died 1701. He was "one of his Majesty's Justices" 1694, and one of the Commissioners to lay out Annapolis, Md. He married Ruth, the daughter of John Baldwin, of Anne Arundel County, Md.
Their daughter, Hannah, married MAJOR CHARLES HAMMOND, whose son John married Anne, the daughter of COLONEL EDWARD DORSEY,6 and their daughter Ruth married HON. HENRY GRIFFITH.
