Notes |
- Per the Coleman family:
Charles Buyer emigrated to the West Coast with his cousin Leopold Reich, trekking across Panama, arriving in California in 1850. They were backpack peddlers and developed a good wholesale business until wiped out by the San Francisco earthquake in 1896. Fred Loewy helped him financially and he loafed around his drygoods store the rest of his life while his wife and daughter did the work.
Douglas Buyer has his silver pocketknife.
